There is a distinct possibility of further water restrictions, as water levels at Jamaica’s two main source areas for the Corporate Area, Mona Reservoir and Hermitage Dam, continue to go down even further.

Yesterday, the Mona Reservoir was at 36.5% or 294.8 million gallons, going down by a further 4.6 million gallons. At the same time, the Hermitage Dam is at 40.0% capacity or 157.3 million gallons, going down by a further 0.8 million gallons.

As such, the National Water Commission (NWC) is encouraging households to fix leaks quickly to save water, as even small drips can waste a large amount of water over time.

In the meantime, NWC customers from Industry Pen H/s, Three Hills District in St. Mary are being advised that the Industry Pen Facility is currently affected by a power outage. 

As a result, some customers may experience reduced water pressure or temporary interruptions in their water supply.

The NWC is closely monitoring the situation and once power is restored by the relevant utility providers, efforts will be made to return the facility to operation and restore water service to affected customers in the shortest possible time.
