MIB founder Richard Burgher goes into retirement

Come July 1, 2023, Marathon Insurance Brokers (MIB) will have a new leader, as the current Executive Chairman, Richard Burgher goes into retirement.

Burgher, who formed the company back insurance brokerage company back in 1990 is stepping down and is to be replaced by Levar Smith, who will take the reins as President and CEO on July 1, 2023.

Burgher who is approaching 80, has built MIB from scratch into one of the biggest and technology advanced insurance brokers in Jamaica

Tropical Shipping appoints new manager for Antigua and Barbuda

Tropical Shipping has appointed Tamara Lowe-James as the new Island Manager of Antigua and Barbuda.

Tamara is Dominican by birth and Antiguan and Barbudan by descent.  She is no stranger to leadership, as she served as the Island Manager of Tropical Shipping (Dominica) for the last 10 years.  

She is also currently the President of the regional organization WiMAC (Women in Maritime Association Caribbean), which was formed under the auspices of the International Maritime Organization with the aim of fostering the development and participation of women in the maritime sector and contributing to the growth of the industry within the Caribbean Region.
