The winners of the Graduates Can Fly singing competition were filled with excitement as they were recognised at a prizegiving ceremony for the second staging of the event on July 16, at the JN corporate offices in St Andrew.

The competition, which was open to primary and secondary schools across Jamaica, is a partnership among the Ministry of Education and Youth (MoEY) and the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport (MoCGES), renowned recording artiste, entrepreneur and JN ambassador “Agent Sasco”; and internationally-acclaimed speaker/coach and author, Alvin Day.

Participants in the competition performed the song, If Caterpillars Can Fly by Agent Sasco and his daughter Lauren “LC” Campbell, at their graduation. The song is based on the book written by Alvin Day.

Each video of the participating schools was posted on social media and the ones with the most likes won first, second and third places, at the primary and secondary levels.

The first, second and third place winners, respectively, at the primary level are: Mount Nebo
Primary School, Unity Primary School and Greater Portmore Primary School.

The first, second and third place winners, respectively, at the secondary level are: St Andrew High School
for Girls, York Castle High School, and The Cedar Grove Academy.

All schools won cash prizes and gift certificates towards the purchase of musical instruments.
