Food For The Poor (FFP) has commended its brand ambassadors, sprint star Yohan Blake and international footballer Leon Bailey, on their recent successes in the sporting arena.

“We at Food For The Poor Jamaica recognise the tremendous discipline, effort, sacrifice and teamwork that goes into competing at the highest level and we commend our ambassadors for their respective achievements,” said FFP’ Executive Director Kivette Silvera, who added: “We look forward to continuing our partnership with each of these gentlemen as they continue to represent Jamaica with excellence, and we commend their exemplary display to all of us. They continue to make us proud.”

Blake, after missing the finals of the Men’s 100m at the recent Tokyo Olympics, ran the third leg to help ensure qualification for the Jamaica Men’s team in the 4x100m relay final, the team finishing first in their semi-final for a season’s best 37.82 seconds. He holds the second-fastest times ever in both the 100m (jointly with Tyson Gay), and the 200m (after Usain Bolt).

Bailey, coming off his best ever season for German side Bayer Leverkusen, completed a move earlier this week to English Premier League club Aston Villa for a reported £25 million. He has won several awards at the club level in Europe, including Belgian Young Professional Footballer of the Year (2015-2016 for former club Genk).

Both were announced as official Food For The Poor ambassadors earlier this year.
