All four members of iconic British pop band The Beatles are getting their biopics— but it will not be just one movie, it will be four for each member.
The choice to make four separate biopics allows the viewer to understand each group member, their backstories, emotional composition, influences, and the works at a larger scale, each potentially getting the move standard ‘hour and a half’ to themselves.
The film will be directed by Sam Mendes and his Neal Street Productions partner Pippa Harris, as well as Neal Street’s Julie Pastor.

“We intend this to be a uniquely thrilling, and epic cinematic experience.” Said Pippa “To have The Beatles’ and Apple Corps’ blessing to do this is an immense privilege. From our first meeting with Tom Rothman and Elizabeth Gabler, it was clear that they shared both our passion and ambition for this project, and we can’t think of a more perfect home than Sony Pictures.”
“I’m honoured to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,” said Sam Mendes.
The Rock band is highly regarded as the most important band of all time and was integral in developing 1960s ‘counterculture’ and the recognition of popular music as a form of music.

This would be the first time Apple Corps Limited and The Beatles’ Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and the families of the late John Lennon and George Harrison have all granted full life story and music rights for the movies to be made.
Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), Sam Mendes, and Neal Street Productions are excited to produce this unprecedented, creative feat to tell the story of The Beatles with four distinct movies. A massive undertaking, but one that seems to have the right idea to give each member a chance to tell their respective story.
