The Los Angeles Rams narrowly saw off the San Fransisco 49ers in a thrilling 20-17 game for the right to face the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.
This year’s Super Bowl will be played on February 13 at the SoFi Stadium, home to the Rams, making them the second team in NFL history to play for the Vince Lombardi trophy at their home stadium, following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just last year.
EXPECTED SEVENTH STRAIGHT LOSS
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford said, after putting away the 49ers: “It’s crazy. I mean crazy. It’s a story that to this day I feel like a lot of people still can’t believe. Sometimes, still, I can’t believe it. And now this. I never thought this was gonna happen, not in a hundred years.”
The Rams were expected to be dealt a seventh straight loss to their divisional rivals but turned things around with some determined play.
“We were down and out. Aaron Donald (defensive tackle) rallied us. He asked us to give more. He said to let us be the reason we win this game. We knew what it meant to him,” said Ram’s Safety Eric Weddle.
Weddle led the Rams in tackles in the NFC Championship win over the 49ers.
