Kingston based medical supplies distributor, Medical Disposables and Supplies Limited is acquiring a smaller competitor, Cornwall Medical and Dental Supplies Limited.

Cornwall Medical and Dental Supplies out of the second city Montego Bay, has entered into an asset acquisition agreement with Medical Disposables and Supplies, which is one of Jamaica’s biggest medical supplies distributors.

Cornwall Medical and Dental Supplies is an island-wide distributor of medical equipment, medical disposable products as well as a wide range of dental supplies. The company operates three pharmacies, two in Montego Bay and one in Savanna-la-Mar under the brand name Corn-med Pharmacy.

Medical Disposables and Supplies, which is a publicly listed company, has advised that it has formed a new subsidiary, Cornwall Enterprises Limited, which is the vehicle being used to acquire the assets of Cornwall Medical and Dental Supplies.

Cornwall Enterprises Limited is 60 per cent owned by Medical Disposables and Supplies.

It is suspected that the current owners of Cornwall Medical and Dental Supplies will own a portion of the shares in this new company, which was created solely for acquiring the assets of the Montego Bay based medical supplies distributor.
