Two-time Olympic champion and second fastest woman alive Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will not line up for the Wanda Diamond League final scheduled for Thursday (September 9) in Zurich.

As one of the top eight athletes in the women’s 100m, based on points earned throughout the Diamond League series, Fraser-Pryce had secured a place in the final alongside compatriots Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shericka Jackson.

The three have been on a tear in the 100m, sweeping the top three spots every time they have competed together since lining up for the Olympic 100m final in Tokyo.

But today (September 7), Fraser-Pryce’s agent Paul Doyle was reported to have said the Diamond League final “just wasn’t in the plans”.

Fraser-Pryce had previously cited fatigue in skipping a race after running 10.60 to upset Thompson-Herah and set a personal best at the Diamond League meeting in Lausanne on August 26.

She subsequently returned to run 10.81 in Poland on Sunday (September 5).
