Sagicor Bank Jamaica is pleased to announce its addition to the National Housing Trust’s (NHT) External Financing Mortgage Programme (EFMP).
In line with the Government of Jamaica’s national target to provide 70,000 housing solutions to Jamaicans, Sagicor is committed to its support of financial solutions that will improve lives.
Under the new mortgage financing model, eligible contributors earning more than $30,000.99 per week have the added convenience of applying for their NHT loans at any of Sagicor Bank’s fifteen locations islandwide. The financing available can be utilized to build or construct their dream home, undertake home improvement projects as well as purchase property that best suits their needs.
According to CEO of Sagicor Bank Chorvelle Johnson Cunningham, “Sagicor Bank prides itself by always being in our Clients’ corner and this means ensuring that the welfare, standard of life and overall well-being of Jamaicans are met. Our partnership with the NHT will allow our clients to make positive changes for their overall comfort and that of their families and we are happy to facilitate this.”
In addition to the NHT External Financing Mortgage Programme, the financial institution is focused on the environmental and social impact of the housing sector on communities and families.
As part of its overall push to inject a sense of urgency among citizens to tackle climate change, living eco-friendly while maintaining sustainability, Sagicor Bank is introducing a new initiative dubbed “Put Down Your Roots”.

Johnson Cunningham continued, “Sustainability starts with being aware of your carbon footprint and understanding the importance of making changes for your homes as well as your businesses. We have recognized that as a part of being impactful in the communities in which we operate it is imperative to educate our clients on the long-term effects to their environments and encourage them to make changes.”
“Put Down Your Roots” will feature a mortgage boutique at select Sagicor Bank locations, where clients are invited to apply and learn more about mortgages, as well as gain insights on the ways they can implement eco-friendly practices in their own homes. Exhibitors at the Sagicor Bank Mortgage Boutique will include: Sagicor Property Services, Advantage General Insurance Company, Jamaica Energy Partners and Recycling Partners of Jamaica.
Additionally, clients will benefit from competitive interest rates; a line of credit; cashback; fast processing as well as a special rate on property and creditor life insurance.
The Mortgage Boutique will kick-start on Saturday, September 23, at Sagicor’s Liguanea branch – The Sovereign Center 106 Hope Road
