Jamaican photography and promotions company, Skkan Media Entertainment has apologised for a tweet posted from its official Twitter page that users called out as misogynistic.
SkkanMe, in its public apology on Sunday (July 18), said the person who made the tweets had been terminated from handling its respective social media accounts and that the comments do not reflect its company values.
“On behalf of the Skkanme family, we would like to apologize for an offensive tweet that was made yesterday. It does not represent the views of Skkan Media Entertainment and the person that made the tweet has been terminated from handling any of our social media accounts,” the company said.

While the apology was met with mixed reactions, some Jamaican Twitter users demanded SkkanMe do more than just relieve the person from their duties by outright firing them as a lesson and, like other companies, suggested implementing a review system before future tweets from the corporate account were made.
In subsequent tweets and interactions with Twitter users, SkkanMe denied it was ‘brushing off’ the controversy by simply deleting the tweet.
The Trafalgar Road-based company reiterated that the controversial post should never have been made and thanked the timeline for bringing the comments to its attention.
“Not brushed off, it was been dealt immediately and the tweet removed… We apologize for the tweet, as it shouldn’t have been made in the first place…. Greatly apologize for hurt or disrespect it has caused… Thanks for bringing this to our attention,” SkkanMe replied.
