Jamaica’s sprint queens continue to dominate the track, sweeping all global sprint titles.

The national anthem of Jamaica has been on repeat for the past two track-and-field seasons. As the country’s ladies venture the international waters to compete in the sprint events, they reign supreme, passing gold medals around among themselves.

Jamaica has achieved total dominance of the women’s 100m and 200m sprint events at the recent Olympics, World Championships, and Commonwealth Games.

This is thanks to Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson-Herah, five times world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and former 400m runner-now-sprint champion Shericka Jackson.

Just today (August 9), Fraser-Pryce set a new world lead of 10.66s in the 100m at the Silesia Diamond League meet in Poland, while Jackson set a a meet record of 21.84 in the 200m.

Over the past two years, the ladies have also swept 100m finals at the Olympics and World Championships, snatching all medals available with world-beating times.

The past two athletic seasons have been challenging for Thompson-Herah, but still she perseveres. After numerous injuries that hindered her performances, the four-time Diamond League champion came back in full swing to cop several global sprint titles. Thompson-Herah is also the fastest living woman in the 100m with a jawdropping time of 10.54 at the Diamond League in Eugene, Oregon, last year.

Mommy Rocket continues to blaze to the finish line of her career, collecting more and more sprint titles along the way.

Fraser-Pryce is one of Jamaica’s most consistent and talented athletes who continues to secure a medal once she is on the track.

Shericka Jackson’s journey in the sprint events is short but still very impactful. The former 400m runner transitioned to the sprints for the Olympic Games and has been on an uphill climb since.

After much hard work and dedication, she copped her first sprint title to become the fasting living woman in the 200m. Jackson also holds many silver and bronze medals from the Olympics, World Championships and Diamond League events.
