West Indies today lost to Pakistan in Dubai by seven wickets with 27 balls in their first of the World Cup warm-up matches in Dubai.

Babar Azam scored 50 and Fakhar Zaman 46 not out as Pakistan made light work of the West Indies paltry total of 130-7 from their 20 overs.

Mohammed Rizwan and Babar put on 36 in the Powerplay before the former was bowled by Ravi Rampaul for 13.

However, the Pakistan captain and Zaman put on 58 for the second wicket. He was out stumped off the bowling of Hayden Walsh Jr for an even 50 that came off 41 balls and included six fours and a six but by then Pakistan only needed 36 from 55 balls to secure victory.

Walsh dismissed Mohammed Hafeez with his next delivery to cause a minor hiccup in the Pakistan chase.

However, Zaman, who hit four fours and two sixes in the 24 balls he faced and Shaoib Malik, who faced 11 balls for his unbeaten score of 14 took Pakistan across the line without further trouble.

Walsh ended with 2-41 from 3.3 overs while Rampaul ended with 1-19 from his three.

West Indies’ Roston Chase.

The West Indies won the toss and elected to bat and crawled to 30-2 in the Powerplay as Shaheen Afridi (2-41) and Hasan Ali (2-21) troubled the Caribbean men.

Andre Fletcher was the first to go with the score at 12, bowled by Ali for 2 in the third over while Simmons was dismissed by Afridi for 18.

The West Indies plodded to 44-3 in the 11th over when Roston Chase lost his wicket for nine and then Gayle, having inched to 20 from 30 balls was bowled by Haris Rauf in the 14th over.

The West Indies only managed to get to 130 by virtue of some lusty hitting from Kieron Pollard, who raced to 23 from 10 balls and Shimron Hetmyer, who was not as aggressive scoring 28 from 24 balls.

Nicholas Pooran scored a run-a-ball 13 before he became Ali’s second victim of the match.

The West Indies will play another warm up match on Wednesday.

Scores in the match: West Indies 130-7; Pakistan 131-3 (15.3 overs)
