Actor Shia LaBeouf was arrested early Tuesday in New Orleans and faces two counts of simple battery after allegedly assaulting two men outside a Royal Street business in Faubourg Marigny.

Police say the 39-year-old became aggressive inside the establishment, and when staff tried to remove him, he reportedly struck one victim multiple times before leaving and then returned, escalating the confrontation.

Bystanders attempted to restrain LaBeouf outside, but he allegedly hit the same victim again and punched another person in the nose before police arrived. Emergency services treated him at a local hospital for unknown injuries prior to his arrest.

This isn’t LaBeouf’s first brush with the law; he was previously charged in 2020 with misdemeanour battery and theft but avoided jail, instead entering therapy and an alcohol monitoring programme. The Transformer star now faces fresh legal trouble as authorities continue their investigation.
