A new partnership between JN Bank and electric vehicle (EV) dealer, Flash Motors, is giving vehicle buyers in Jamaica a faster and more convenient pathway from selecting an electric vehicle to arranging financing and taking delivery. The partnership comes as Jamaica’s motor market responds to growing consumer interest in more sustainable transportation options.

The partnership was formalised through the signing of a memorandum of understanding at the Flash Motors showroom in New Kingston on September 17. It brings JN Bank’s financing expertise and national reach together with Flash Motors’ experience in electric vehicles, charging and after-sales support.

Through the partnership, Flash Motors customers can be connected directly with JN Bank’s auto-loan team and benefit from a streamlined application process. JN Bank will support the arrangement with preliminary loan feedback within approximately one business day and a final decision within three business days once complete documentation is received.

Eligible customers may also access JN Bank’s special auto-loan interest rate of 7.99 per cent, subject to the bank’s credit assessment, eligibility requirements and applicable terms and conditions.

Ricardo Williams, chief product officer for unsecured loans, auto loans and credit cards at JN Bank, said the partnership is intended to remove uncertainty from the vehicle purchasing process and help customers consider their vehicle and financing requirements together.

“For prospective vehicle owners, financing, operating costs and access to after-sales support all form part of the ownership journey. This partnership is focused on connecting those elements, giving customers an opportunity to consider the vehicle and financing requirements together rather than as separate steps,” he said.

He said the arrangement forms part of JN Bank’s efforts to deepen relationships and improve the speed and accessibility of vehicle financing, while also highlighting how the partnership fits within JN’s wider environmental responsibility objectives.

“We want to play our part in making it easier for customers to access and maintain vehicles, while also supporting more environmentally responsible choices,” he said. “As renewable energy and cleaner transportation become increasingly important, we believe this partnership can give customers of both organisations more options as they consider their vehicle and financing needs, while we, in turn, support the growth of this segment of the automotive market.”

Interest in electric vehicles in Jamaica is growing as more people consider fuel costs, vehicle technology, safety, charging infrastructure and long-term ownership expenses when making transportation decisions. However, unfamiliar financing processes and uncertainty about the wider ownership experience can make the transition to electric mobility seem more complex than purchasing a conventional vehicle.

Xavier Gordon, chief executive officer of Flash Motors, said the partnership addresses that challenge by bringing trusted financing support into the customer journey earlier.

“Electric vehicles should not be harder to finance simply because the technology is new,” Mr Gordon said. “Customers need reliable vehicles, clear financing options and confidence that they will be supported after delivery. JN Bank brings the reach, experience and credibility to strengthen that journey, while Flash Motors brings the EV expertise, after-sales support and charging solutions.”

He said the partnership was a natural fit because of JN Bank’s longstanding presence in Jamaica and its experience helping Jamaicans navigate important financial decisions.

“Flash Motors is introducing new vehicle technology and a different approach to transportation in Jamaica. To earn the confidence of the market, we must work with institutions that Jamaicans already know and trust,” Mr Gordon said. “Together with JN Bank, we can make the move to electric transportation more straightforward and practical for more people.”

Customers interested in using the JN Bank financing pathway may begin the process through the Flash Motors sales team, which will connect them directly with the designated JN Bank representatives. All loan approvals, interest rates and financing terms remain subject to JN Bank’s credit assessment and documentation requirements.

Flash Motors distributes electric and plug-in passenger and commercial vehicles, including models from Geely and Farizon. The company also provides after-sales support, charging infrastructure and energy-management solutions for individual EV owners and businesses transitioning their fleets to electric mobility.
