C&W Communications, through its Bahamian brand, BTC, has returned as the title sponsor of the World Athletics Relays in Nassau from May 4-5.

Through this partnership, the Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) will provide internet service for athletes and patrons allowing them to stay connected as the excitement of the races unfold.

Inge Smidts, CEO of C&W Communications and chair of the BTC board of directors, said: “We are proud to return as title sponsors of the World Athletics Relays”.

“This event represents the spirit of relentless courage and the willingness to succeed that defines our people and our business. Through partnerships like this we can demonstrate our unwavering commitment to positively impact lives with our technology,” the chief executive noted.

In addition to its sponsorship of the event, Smidts pointed out it was important that athletes, officials, and fans stayed connected during the games.

“I am pleased to announce that BTC will provide free Wi-Fi at the stadium, giving patrons and athletes the opportunity to share every riveting moment,” added Smidt.

“As a business we are focused on ensuring that our customers have access to faster, stronger, and more reliable connectivity, and we’ve worked with our partners to make certain that athletes and patrons remain connected. We’ve set up care centres to ensure that we address any connectivity concerns on the spot.”

Athletes from over 50 countries, including Jamaica, are set to participate at the World Relays with the theme ‘Chase the Sun, from Paradise to Paris’. The event is a qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
