Emma Raducanu was forced to retire from her first-round match against Camila Osorio at the Qatar Open, just two days after falling in the Transylvania Open final. 

The British number one, who had battled a chest infection and fitness issues, called for a trainer after going 2-0 down in the deciding set and conceded the match.

Raducanu started well, taking the first set 6-2, but Osorio fought back to claim the second 6-4, putting pressure on Raducanu with sharp play and forcing errors. After struggling to keep up with a series of drop shots in the third set, Raducanu briefly returned before signalling to the umpire that she could not continue.

The 23-year-old has faced ongoing challenges since her historic 2021 US Open win, including multiple injuries, coaching changes, and early exits from tournaments like the Wuhan and Australian Opens, which shows the difficulty of maintaining top form on the WTA Tour.
