Fred Kerley has taken his next explosive step off the traditional track and into uncharted territory.

The American sprinter, known for his high speed and a 100m world title in 2022, has become the first elite track athlete to sign up for the Enhanced Games, a controversial new competition that permits the use of performance-enhancing drugs under medical supervision.

The move comes at a turbulent time for the 30-year-old. Currently sidelined from the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo due to a provisional suspension linked to an alleged anti-doping whereabouts violation, Kerley now faces a possible two-year ban from sanctioned competition.
