St Jago Boys and Edwin Allen Girls emerged champions of the Central Athletics Championship at the GC Foster College in St Catherine on Wednesday (February 25).

St Jago boys won with 250 points after the 40 finals and were 42 points ahead of Edwin Allen Boys in second with 208 points. Clarendon College finished third with 132 points, with Manchester High in fourth on 124. St catherine High rounded out the top five on 92 points.

The top 10 was completed by Hydel High (91), Alphansus Davis High (88), Holmwood Technical (85), Denbigh High (60) and Vere Technical (59).

In the girls’ section, which all-island champion Hydel High did not contest, Edwin Allen rattled up 406 points from the 45 finals and finished 35.5 points ahead of second-placed Holmwood Technical on 370.5.

St Jago finished third with 240.5, just ahead of Vere Technical with 232.5, and Alphansus Davis rounded out the top five with 105.5 points.

The top 10 was completed by Clarendon College (79), St Catherine High (76), Ferncourt High (65), Manchester High (54) and Foga Road High (21).

Junior Gallimore, formerly of Calabar High and now at Hydel High, was the Overall MVP with 22.5 points. He won the Class One 400 hurdles in a record  51.77 and won the 200m in 21.28.

Gallimore, showing why Calabar High will miss his presence at the Boys and Girls Athletics Championship next month, as he was a part of the 4x100m and 4×400 relays that were second and third, respectively.

Javi Rose of Holmwood Technical was the Female MVP with 21 points. She won the Class One 800m and 1500m in 2:14.37 and 4:55.71, respectively. She won a third gold in the 4×400 relays.
