Max Verstappen went back to his karting roots at Silverstone and made quick work of an unusual challenge, racing past 100 amateur drivers in just 14 laps and 35 minutes.

The four-time Formula 1 world champion was given a maximum of 35 laps and 75 minutes to overtake the entire field on an adapted circuit at the famous British racing venue. By the end of a chaotic opening lap, Verstappen had already worked his way up to 37th as several competitors crashed, briefly bringing the action to a halt.

Once racing resumed, the Red Bull driver continued slicing through the field. He reached 10th by lap six and climbed to fourth by lap 10, with every driver he overtook required to retire from the race.

That left Dutch F1 journalist Jacky Martens, Red Bull engine builder Lewis Osler and YouTuber Zac Alsop as the final three standing between Verstappen and victory.

The trio were each handed an extra fast lap, allowing them to cut a corner in an attempt to stay ahead, but even that could not keep Verstappen away.

Martens, who started from pole position, was the final driver caught as Verstappen completed the challenge with 40 minutes and 21 laps still available.

The exhibition offered Verstappen a return to familiar territory. Before becoming a four-time F1 champion between 2021 and 2024, the Dutch driver began his racing journey in karting, and at Silverstone, those early skills were back on full view.
